Oh Well

Jim Fennell of Fennell drilling Co. came today and set up his rig. He thinks we will have to drill about 300 feet to hit good water.

Hooking up

Today we finished trenching the property and Dan from Paradise Power www.paradisepower.net brought the wire to hook up th the transformer across the street. That is Dan on the right hooking up to the meter.

Electrical service

Today we had to dig up the road to connect to the electrical transformer which is across the road from our property. Here we are carefully digging around gas, phone, cable and internet lines. We did not break anything. We laid the conduit and Dan from Paradise Power will be setting the meter base on Wednesday. Dan will also be installing a grid intertie system which means that on Sunny Taos days our electric meter will be running backwards.

Grounbreaking

Last Monday we had the ceremonial groundbreaking with Ken & Pam. They said that astrologically it was an auspicious day for groundbreaking. We went to a spot that is the future kitchen and shoveled dirt over our shoulders. We shared some champagne after the groundbreaking. Now lets build this house!

Clearing the Land

Today we began clearing the land. Adam Drake did the work. Just like his father, Kenny, Adam is a master with a backhoe. We told him to save the trees and he was able to spot every little sapling and maneuver the machine around it. We are almost ready to stake out the house.
